Watch a File or Folder for Changes

The Watch Files and Folders feature lets you stay updated on changes to specific files and folders. Get notifications for additions, deletions, updates, and more to always keep track of what’s happening in your document management system.

1. Open Settings for a File or Folder by clicking on the settings icon (⚙️) next to the file or folder you want to monitor.
2. Select “Watch” from the dropdown menu
3. Configure Watch Settings
Notifications Enabled: Toggle this switch to turn notifications on or off.

What to Watch:

  • This item only: Tracks changes to the selected file or folder itself.
  • This item and direct contents: Tracks the file/folder and its immediate sub-items.
  • This item and all contents: Monitors the file/folder and all nested sub-items, regardless of depth.

Notification Triggers

Customize which events you want to be notified about:

  • New item added: Be alerted when new files or folders are added.
  • Item restored: Receive notifications for restored deleted items.
  • Item updated: Stay informed on edits or modifications.
  • Item relocated: Get notified when files or folders are moved.
  • Item deleted: Know when something is removed.

Notification Settings

  • Group Notifications — Combine multiple notifications into a summary for less clutter.
  • Include Notifications for My Own Actions — Choose whether you want to receive notifications for changes you make.
  • Set Notification Email — Ensure the correct email address is entered to receive alerts.

Yes, you can set up separate “Watch for Changes” settings for as many items as you need.

  1. Will I be notified about every minor change?

You can customize the triggers to focus only on the events you care about, like additions or deletions.

  1. Can I stop watching an item later?

Absolutely! Go back to the item’s settings, and disable notifications.
